ACCRA-GHANA-Ugandan commercial heavyweight Mukula Milton George is taking his expertise to the continental stage after landing a prestigious appointment as Commercial & Product Development Lead at MMD Steel Group, a steel manufacturing group with operations across multiple African markets.
Based in Ghana, Mukula will support commercial growth and product development across 10 African markets, including Ghana, Burkina Faso, Benin, Angola, Mali, Niger, Togo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi.
The appointment marks a major career milestone for a seasoned professional whose 18-plus years of experience have been shaped by some of the region’s most recognisable corporate brands.
From Corporate Giants To A Continental Stage
Mukula’s career journey includes Bidco Oils Uganda Ltd, Uganda Breweries Ltd/Diageo, Airtel Uganda Ltd and Uganda Baati Ltd, a member of the Safal Group.
His four years at Uganda Baati gave him valuable exposure to the steel and building solutions industry, providing a strong foundation for his new assignment.
From fast-moving consumer goods and telecommunications to steel, Mukula has built a reputation on versatility, commercial insight and the ability to navigate different business environments.
His new role will span commercial performance, product development, exports, market expansion and route-to-market strategies—placing him at the intersection of business growth and Africa’s industrial ambitions.
The French Advantage
Beyond his corporate experience, Mukula brings a valuable linguistic advantage to the table. He studied French for six years and taught the language for two, a background that aligns neatly with his responsibilities across several Francophone African markets.
In a continent where language, culture and relationships shape business success, this skill could prove a powerful asset in building partnerships and unlocking opportunities across borders.
His academic credentials are equally impressive. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, an MBA in Marketing, professional marketing qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, a Diploma in Business Studies from Makerere University and a Certificate in Project Planning from ICDL Africa.
He also serves as a professional tutor with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, blending industry experience with a commitment to developing marketing professionals.
From Kampala To Accra: A Bigger Playing Field
Mukula’s move to Ghana represents more than a change of address; it is a leap onto a broader commercial playing field.
With African markets pursuing infrastructure development, housing expansion and industrialisation, the steel sector presents significant opportunities for businesses that understand their customers and know how to turn market demand into growth.
Mukula’s cross-sector experience positions him to contribute to that ambition, bringing together commercial strategy, product development and market intelligence.
From Kampala’s corporate corridors to Accra’s continental marketplace, Mukula Milton George is flying the Ugandan flag on a bigger stage. His appointment is a proud professional milestone and a reminder that experience, continuous learning and strategic versatility can propel Ugandan talent across borders.
As he takes on this new mandate, the challenge is clear: turn opportunities into markets, markets into growth, and commercial vision into lasting results.
