Kampala, Uganda – The Minister of State for Education and Sports in charge of Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, has announced a landmark partnership between the Uganda Tourism Board and the Confederation of African Football ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Hon. Ogwang, who was in the company of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, revealed that the Uganda Tourism Board has officially partnered with CAF as an Official Competition Sponsor for AFCON 2027.

Uganda is set to co-host the prestigious tournament with Kenya and Tanzania, in what will be the biggest football event ever held in East Africa.

According to Hon. Ogwang, the partnership is a strategic move that will give Uganda a great opportunity to showcase its rich culture, diverse tourism offerings, and the hospitality of its people to the continent and the world.

He said the tournament will bring millions of football fans, tourists, and global viewers, and Uganda must use the platform to market itself as a prime tourism destination.

“This partnership will allow the world to explore Uganda through the TotalEnergies AFCON 2027. It is a chance to sell our culture, our wildlife, our sceneries and the warm hospitality of Ugandans,” Hon. Ogwang said.

The Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa, welcomed the development and reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to supporting all preparations to ensure Uganda successfully co-hosts the tournament.

The collaboration is expected to place Brand Uganda at the centre of Africa’s biggest football festival under the theme Explore Uganda through TotalEnergies AFCON 2027.
