B.O.B calls distribution planning meeting as sub-counties compile household figures
By Our Reporter
Soroti District has received a total of 48,600 hand hoes from the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, with plans now underway to distribute the farm implements to households across the district.
The hoes, received by the office of the Soroti District LC5 Chairperson, Hon Bob Owiny, aka B.O.B, have been delivered in three consignments since September.
The first consignment of 54 cartons, containing 1,296 hoes, was received on Friday, September 25, 2026.
A second delivery of 1,000 cartons, containing 24,000 hoes, followed on Monday, September 28, while the third and latest consignment of 971 cartons, containing 23,304 hoes, was received on Tuesday, October 6.
This brings the total received by the district to 2,025 cartons, equivalent to 48,600 hand hoes.
Speaking on the next steps, Hon. Bob Owiny said he has called a meeting for next week to agree on a clear distribution plan that will ensure the hoes reach intended beneficiaries across the district.
_“I have called for a meeting next week to plan the distribution of these hoes. We want to have a clear and orderly process so that the distribution is properly coordinated across the district,” B.O.B said._
He added that sub-county chiefs have already been asked to submit the number of households in their respective sub-counties, which will form part of the information to guide the distribution process.
The household figures are expected to help the district establish an equitable distribution framework and determine how the available hoes will be allocated across the different sub-counties.
B.O.B said the district leadership is committed to ensuring that the government-provided agricultural inputs are distributed in an organized and transparent manner for the benefit of households and farmers.
The hand hoes are part of the government’s efforts to support agricultural production and improve access to basic farm implements among communities.
