The launch follows a meeting of the Kaberamaido PLU Taskforce, which convened to deliberate on the modalities, coordination mechanisms and timelines for the exercise.
The taskforce is being led by the PLU Coordinators Eswilu Robert, Ocheng Anthony and the Members of Parliament together with the district political and administrative leadership in line with guidance from the PLU Secretariat.
The meeting focuses on establishing a coordinated and orderly approach to the collection of endorsement signatures, with the exercise expected to cover all the nine sub-counties of kaberamaido District.
The grassroots mobilisation is scheduled to commence on Monday, 21 September 2026, immediately following the district launch, and the taskforce has been given a one-month period within which to complete the exercise and submit the collected endorsements in accordance with the timelines set by the PLU Secretariat.
The Kaberamaido initiative forms part of the wider PLU national endorsement drive for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba ahead of the 2031 presidential election. PLU has publicly announced a national endorsement campaign and has been extending the exercise from the national level to districts and grassroots structures.
Earlier last week, PLU also reported that its endorsement drive was gaining momentum, with endorsement books being distributed to organised structures and the Teso mobilisation already underway.
Speaking on the preparations, the Kaberamaido taskforce emphasised the importance of coordination, inclusiveness and effective grassroots engagement to ensure that the exercise reaches communities across the district. The involvement of Members of Parliament, district leadership and PLU structures is intended to provide a coordinated framework for implementation across the nine sub-counties.
