Zombo Leaders Endorse Muhoozi for 2031 as Locals Insist Democracy Must Deliver Services, Not Just Elections

Leaders in Zombo district have rushed to endorse Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the presidential candidate under the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) for 2031, but this move is facing growing resistance from the local population, who believe their leaders have failed to grasp the fundamental meaning of democracy.

For these residents, democracy must not focus on elections alone but rather on service delivery for the people. Their frustration centres on the deplorable state of the Nebbi–Zombo–Vurra road, the absence of a fully established Zombo hospital in Warr, and the failure to uplift urban centres in Zombo to municipal status.

These are non-negotiable issues for the locals, who feel their leaders never made adequate consultations before committing themselves to the endorsement.

They argue that democracy must deliver services and improve the standards of living of the people, not another round of elections every time, even when a previous election has just ended and campaign manifestos remain unfulfilled.

The message to the leaders is clear: they must not give false hope to this president and his son, and they must understand that these three sensitive issues must be addressed if the PLU is to succeed in Zombo.
