KAMPALA – The Regional Coordinator for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Teso Sub-Region, Hon. Peter Ogwang, today met with Members of Parliament from Teso to discuss the Teso development agenda.
Away from the core Teso agenda, other critical issues discussed included teamwork, mobilization for the endorsement of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba (MK) after President Museveni, sensitization of the population on government programmes, and strategies aimed at fostering unity and development in the region.
In the meeting held in Kampala, the MPs resolved to bury their individual political differences and work closely with Hon. Ogwang, who is also the Minister of State for Education and Sports in charge of Sports, to fast-track development and consolidate the gains so far achieved.

Hon. Silas Aogon, the MP for Kumi Municipality, said they will work hand in hand with Hon. Ogwang and the Teso PLU regional executive to propel the Teso agenda.
“As leaders of Teso, it’s our mandate to work with government to achieve our blueprint, not other people outside government,” Aogon said.
He noted that the Teso agenda is already well documented in the Ministry of Teso Affairs and the same agenda was handed over to the PLU Chairman, Gen. MK, during his tour of Teso in 2023.
“If we may ask, which authority or mandate do they have on the Teso agenda? How can a group outside power be in charge of Teso’s agenda? To whom do they report? It is our mandate as leaders of Teso to have the regional agenda, which we actually have through the Ministry of Teso Affairs,” the MPs said in a joint statement.
On matters of PLU organization, the Regional Secretary for PLU Teso, Mr. Richard Elimu, said it will be difficult to promote the PLU agenda in Teso without involving Members of Parliament because they are the direct voice of the people with a bigger grassroots following.
He called upon all MPs in Teso to come out strongly and mobilize massively for the ongoing nationwide MK endorsement programme, following the existing PLU structures.
Responding to the concerns, Hon. Peter Ogwang emphasized the need for teamwork, discipline and respect for structures, saying these are the core principles of PLU.
“In PLU, we welcome everybody on board but we must work as a team following the existing structures. We can’t allow other people to begin fighting others in the name of MK or PLU,” Ogwang said.
Ogwang noted that collective responsibility is the only way to consolidate the gains made by the NRM government and ensure that the Teso agenda remains aligned with the national agenda of peace, stability and socio-economic transformation.
It shoukd be noted that, Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) is a civic organization chaired by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Its stated mission is to promote patriotism, Pan-Africanism, civic discipline and the socio-economic transformation of Uganda.
The League is not a political party but a civic pressure group that works to defend, protect and consolidate the achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), including peace and security, infrastructure development, and poverty eradication, while advocating for generational renewal in leadership and a firm stance against corruption.
PLU operates through a well-established national and regional coordination structure, with regional coordinators appointed to mobilize and coordinate activities across the country.
