Twalla urges Muhoozi supporters to plug into established PLU structures
By Our Reporter |
KAMPALA: The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has called for greater coordination among its supporters in Teso, warning that enthusiasm for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s political aspirations should complement—not compete with—the organisation’s established structures.
Speaking to PLU enthusiasts and former parliamentary candidates from Teso, PLU Secretary General Hon. Fadil Twalla said the growing interest around the movement must now be matched with discipline, coordination and respect for leadership structures.
Twalla said PLU has established structures across the country and urged individuals and groups mobilising for Gen. Muhoozi to use the existing organisational channels rather than creating parallel centres of activity.
“Please don’t undermine our structures, work with them because our ultimate goal is to work together in unity to promote Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Museveni for presidency from 2031 and beyond,” Twalla said.
His message comes as PLU continues to strengthen its national, regional and grassroots organisation. The organisation has previously said its structures are intended to coordinate activities from the national level down to districts and lower administrative units.
From Competition To Collaboration
Twalla also reached out to those who did not emerge successful in the recent party primaries, urging them to accept the outcome and work alongside colleagues who secured positions and are now serving in leadership.
He said political competition should not become a permanent dividing line, arguing that those who contested and those who emerged victorious still have a common responsibility within the wider movement.
The appeal effectively puts the emphasis on what comes after the contest—bringing together different camps, experiences and networks under one organisational framework.
Teso Mobilisation Gets Organisational Push
The Secretary General’s remarks come against the backdrop of increased PLU mobilisation in Teso. In September, PLU announced that endorsement books for Gen. Muhoozi’s 2031 bid had been handed to Teso regional coordinator and Ngariam County MP Peter Ogwang.
For Twalla, however, mobilisation must go beyond numbers and enthusiasm. He stressed that unity and discipline are essential if the organisation is to translate its growing grassroots presence into coordinated activity.
The message to the Teso enthusiasts was therefore simple: different voices can join the chorus, but the movement needs one organisational rhythm.
